Your phone becomes the camera.
You stay in control.
SecurityHub connects your cameras, account, recordings, and web dashboard into one security system — with local recording at the center and optional cloud functionality when you want it.
Five pieces. One security system.
You don't need to understand the entire technical stack to use SecurityHub. Here's what is actually happening behind the scenes.
Your Android phone captures the video.
Your SecurityHub account identifies your devices.
Supported live feeds use peer-to-peer WebRTC.
Record locally or use Pro cloud functionality.
Manage your SecurityHub experience from the web.
Here's what happens.
SecurityHub is designed so you can start small and add capabilities when you actually need them.
Turn an Android phone into a camera.
Install SecurityHub on a supported Android phone and give an old device a new job. The phone becomes a connected security camera that can be paired to your SecurityHub account.
Pair cameras to your account.
SecurityHub keeps your devices and camera records associated with the account you're currently signed into. Switching accounts is designed to move the active device association to the current account rather than leaving it attached to the previous one.
Connect directly when you need live video.
For supported camera connections, SecurityHub uses peer-to-peer WebRTC for live video. Firebase helps with authentication, device coordination, and signaling so the devices can find and establish their connection.
Keep recordings private on the device.
The Free experience is local-first. Android recordings are stored inside SecurityHub's private encrypted app storage rather than automatically appearing in the normal Android Gallery.
Add cloud recording when you want it.
Pro gives you the option to use cloud recording instead of making cloud storage a requirement for everyone. Choose CLOUD when you want cloud functionality, or BOTH when you want local and cloud recording together.
Use the SecurityHub web dashboard.
The SecurityHub website gives you an account-based place to manage your SecurityHub experience. Sign in to access the dashboard and use the web features available to your account.
LOCAL, CLOUD, or BOTH.
SecurityHub doesn't make cloud storage a requirement. You choose the storage mode that fits the way you want to use your cameras.
LOCAL
FreeYour recording stays on the device in SecurityHub's encrypted, app-private storage.
CLOUD
ProAdd cloud recording when you want recordings associated with your authenticated SecurityHub account.
BOTH
ProKeep the local recording while also using the cloud for the convenience of having both.
Live video doesn't need to take the scenic route.
Supported SecurityHub live connections use peer-to-peer WebRTC. Firebase helps the devices authenticate, coordinate, and exchange signaling information so the connection can be established.
Firebase coordinates the connection; it is not intended to be the normal transport path for the live WebRTC video.
Privacy isn't an upgrade.
The core privacy-focused experience is part of SecurityHub itself. Pro adds cloud convenience; it doesn't make the Free tier intentionally unusable.
Private local storage
Local Android recordings use encrypted app-private storage.
Account ownership
Devices and camera records are associated with the signed-in account.
Peer-to-peer live video
Supported live feeds use WebRTC rather than relying on cloud video transport.
Biometrics
Biometric authentication remains available to Free users.
What happens when you hit 20 GB?
Nothing suddenly breaks. SecurityHub's server-side usage controls stop new cloud uploads once the monthly allowance is reached. Your local recording workflow remains separate.
Pro cloud usage allowance. Local storage is separate.
SecurityHub is growing beyond the phone.
The Android camera experience is the foundation, while the broader SecurityHub ecosystem is being built to support additional camera sources and Windows/NVR workflows.
Windows NVR
The public Windows download is being prepared for wider release. The goal is to bring Android cameras, USB webcams, and RTSP/IP camera workflows together in one NVR experience.
Let's make the technical stuff simple.
The short answers to the questions people usually have.
Ready to give an old phone
a new job?
Start with the Free tier, keep your recordings local, and add Pro cloud functionality only if you actually need it.
